Day 11: Something people seem to compliment you the most on **
I seem to get the most compliments on my patience. People are all constantly telling me how patient I am. Which makes me think that they don't really know me at all, because I don't think I have hardly any patience at all.
Well, that's not exactly true, because I do have patience with little people. When it comes to kids, I can put up with just about anything... until I can't. But my limit is pretty high, and often, I'm the last one standing when it comes to waiting out a tantrum or listening to their latest complaint about how unfair some rule or another is. Pretty much nothing they do bothers me at first, and it takes a lot to push my buttons, because I figure "They're kids, they're just learning, or just trying to figure it out" and I can cut them a lot of slack while they work on it. (Which does not mean that I'm a pushover - I may have a lot of patience, but I'm also a stickler for rules, as any of the munchkins who've been under my care would surely tell you.)
But when it comes to grown-ups? I mostly figure they should have grown out of their tantrums - whatever form they might take - and so have a lot less patience for their poor behavior.
But I've been getting the "you have so much patience!" compliment a lot lately especially since I've been working with Grandmother and all her various therapist type people... Uncle Jack (who has very little patience... for anybody) is constantly telling me how much he appreciates that I have the patience to put up with them (and Grandmother's ... self-willed-ness) so that he doesn't have to. It doesn't really take that much though, so I think that's more a measure of his lack of patience, than my abundance of it.
But I'll take any compliments I can get, so let's all pretend that I am awesomely patient, why don't we?

** Can we please stop ending sentences with prepositions? It's hurting my grammar-geek soul.
